WHAT MILO WRITES

Guides and tools for people who run trucks

Milo writes the guides and builds the calculators on HaulTerminal: trailer dimensions and weights, power only and intermodal how-tos, rate and cost tools, and the reference pages carriers come back to.

Every piece is written for owner-operators and small fleets, from the point of view of a dispatch desk that books freight for real trucks every week.

HOW EACH PIECE IS CHECKED

  • Rules and limits come from primary sources: FMCSA, FHWA, eCFR, state DOTs and manufacturers
  • Every number shows where it came from and when it was checked
  • Examples are labeled as examples, never passed off as client results
  • Calculators show their formulas, so you can check the math
  • Pages with market data are re-checked at least once a year

The full process is in our editorial policy. Spotted something wrong? Tell us and we fix it.

WHY THE GUIDES EXIST

Answers a dispatcher would give you

Most trucking information online is written to sell a product or fill a page. Carriers end up with trailer dimensions that don't match the spec sheet, rate articles with no date, and calculators that hide their assumptions.

The guides on this site try to do the opposite: answer the question in the first few lines, show the source and the date for every number, and explain what the answer means for the truck, the lane and the paycheck.

WHAT MILO WON'T DO

Lines we don't cross

No invented statistics, testimonials or income promises. No guessing at legal limits; when rules vary by state, the guide says so and points to the source. No recommending a product because it pays a referral fee without saying so.

When a guide mentions our own dispatch service, it says what we do, what it costs and that you sign every rate con, and then lets you decide.

The guides are free. If you want the desk behind them working for your truck, every rate con still comes to you to sign.
