Box truck dispatcher, straight answers
The questions every box truck owner asks before signing up with a box truck dispatch service.
01How much does box truck dispatch cost?
The same as a semi: 5% of gross for one 26 ft box truck with an MC at least 6 months old, 7% while your MC is newer, and 4% for two trucks or more. Many services charge box trucks extra. We don't.
02Do you dispatch box trucks smaller than 26 ft?
No. We dispatch 26 ft box trucks and larger only, and no cargo vans or sprinter vans. Smaller boxes compete for a different, thinner set of loads, and we would rather say so up front than book you on freight that doesn't pay.
03Can you dispatch a non-CDL 26 ft box truck?
Yes. Many 26 ft box trucks are built at 26,000 lb GVWR so they can run without a CDL. We note your GVWR, keep loads inside your payload, and match freight that fits a non-CDL truck. Heavier spec trucks with a CDL driver work too.
04Do I need a liftgate to get loads?
Not for every load, but it helps a lot. Without one you are limited to dock-high pickups and deliveries. With a liftgate you can take final-mile, residential, small retail and job-site deliveries, which is a big share of box truck freight.
05What freight do box truck dispatchers book?
Partial and full truckload freight that fits 12 to 14 pallets: retail replenishment, final-mile and appliance deliveries, trade show and event freight, expedited partials and regional LTL overflow. We match each load to your box, payload and liftgate.
06Do you work with new MC box trucks?
Yes. A big share of box truck carriers have new authority. We focus on brokers that book young MCs and set up your packets to pass their checks. Your fee is 7% until month 6, then 5%.
07Do I have to accept every load?
No. We negotiate the load, then the broker sends the rate confirmation straight to you. You sign it or say no, and declining costs nothing. We never sign a rate con for you.
26 FT FLOOR PLAN
What fits on a 26 ft box truck floor
Pick the freight. The floor fills with pallets at real size, next to a 53 ft van for scale. Flip the liftgate to see which loads it opens.
ON THE FLOOR
12
pallets, single layer
Two across with room to spare, six rows deep.
Opens final-mile, residential, small retail and job-site deliveries where there is no dock. Many box truck loads require one.

FREIGHT WE BOOK
26ft box truck dispatcher, the right loads
Box truck freight is dry van freight in miniature: appointments, pallets and dock times, plus deliveries a semi can't reach.
Partials and LTL overflow
Four to fourteen pallets going regional. Often the best rate per mile for a box truck, and the reason dock-high capability matters.
Final mile
Furniture, appliances and retail deliveries to homes and storefronts. Usually needs a liftgate, sometimes two people.
Retail replenishment
DC to store runs on set schedules. Good repeat work once a broker trusts your on-time record.
Expedited
Time-critical freight that can't wait for a full truckload. Pays for speed and fast communication.

CDL OR NON-CDL
Non CDL box truck dispatch, done right
Under federal rules a single vehicle needs a CDL driver once its gross vehicle weight rating is 26,001 lb or more. That is why so many 26 ft box trucks are built at 26,000 lb GVWR: they can run with a regular license.
The trade-off is payload. A non-CDL 26 ft box often carries around 10,000 lb or less once the truck itself is weighed. We keep every load inside your number, because an overweight box truck is a ticket, a fine and a lost customer.

WHAT WE NEED ON FILE
- Box length (26 ft and up) and inside height
- GVWR from the door sticker, and your empty weight
- Liftgate: yes or no, and its capacity
- Dock-high or not
- Pallet jack and straps or load bars on board
- CDL or non-CDL driver
Non-CDL trucks under DOT rules don't need a drug and alcohol testing program. CDL drivers do.
A STRAIGHT TRUCK WEEK
Straight truck dispatch service, day by day
An example, not a client story: one non-CDL 26 ft box with a liftgate, based in Dallas. Monday and Tuesday are a partial to Oklahoma City and a reload of retail freight back toward Fort Worth.
Wednesday is two final-mile appliance stops that need the liftgate. Thursday a broker offers a cheap local run under the carrier's floor, and the carrier says no. Friday is an expedited partial to Austin that pays for the short notice.
CHOOSING A DESK
Box truck dispatch companies: what to check
Plenty of box truck dispatch companies will take your money. Ask these before you sign anywhere, including with us.
Do they charge box trucks more?
Many do, often a couple of points above their semi rate. Ask for the rate in writing for your exact truck.
Do they know your weight limit?
A dispatcher who never asks your GVWR or empty weight will book you overweight sooner or later.
Who signs the rate con?
If they sign for you, they can commit your truck to a load you never saw. Ours always goes to you.
Do they dispatch cargo vans too?
Desks built around vans price and plan differently. We only run box trucks from 26 ft up, plus semis.

Every rate con lands in your inbox
Box truck owners get pushed into cheap local runs more than anyone. Not here. We bring a load that fits your floor rate, the broker sends the rate con to you, and you decide. Pass on it and nothing happens except we keep looking.

HOW BOX LOADS PAY
Price the stop, not just the mile
Box truck loads are short and stop-heavy, so rate per mile alone misleads. A 60-mile final-mile run with two stops can pay more per hour than a 400-mile partial. We look at the whole day: miles, stops, wait time and the extras the shipper should pay for.
| Extra | When it applies | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Liftgate | No dock at pickup or delivery | Make sure it is paid on the rate con, not assumed |
| Residential | Deliveries to homes | Ask for the residential charge up front |
| Inside delivery | Freight moved past the door | Get it written in, or decline the extra work |
| Extra stops | Multi-stop retail or final mile | Price each stop, not just the miles between them |
| Detention | Waiting past free time at a dock | Log times and file the claim |
THE FEE
Box truck dispatch service at 5%
No box truck surcharge. A 26 ft box truck pays exactly what a semi pays: 5% with an MC at least 6 months old, 7% before that, 4% for two or more trucks. There is no setup fee, and you pay nothing in a week the truck sits. Compare in dispatch cost, or start with new authority dispatch if your MC is young.
