QUESTIONS
Truck dispatch FAQ, straight answers
The questions carriers ask before they sign up, grouped by topic. Each group links to the page that covers it in depth.
01How much does your dispatch cost?
5% of gross load revenue for one truck with authority older than 6 months, on any equipment we dispatch. 7% while your MC is under 6 months, and 4% for fleets of two or more trucks.
02Is there a setup fee or a minimum?
No setup fee and no weekly or monthly minimum. If you don't haul, you don't pay. The fee is only charged on loads you accept and deliver.
03Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. Dispatch is month to month. If you want to stop, give us 30 days notice and that's it; there's no termination fee.
04When does the new authority rate change?
Automatically. Once your MC passes 6 months, your fee drops from 7% to 5%, or to 4% if you run two or more trucks. You don't have to ask.
05Is the fee the same for every kind of equipment?
Yes. A box truck, a reefer and a car hauler pay the same 5% with authority over 6 months, the same 7% before that, and the same 4% in a fleet. Equipment changes the lanes we book, not the price.
06Is the fee charged on fuel surcharge and accessorials?
The fee is a percentage of gross load revenue, which is what the load pays, including fuel surcharge and accessorials billed on it. Reimbursements you pass through, like a lumper you paid, aren't revenue and aren't charged.
01Do I have to take every load you find?
No. Every rate confirmation comes to you directly from the broker. You read it and sign it, or you say no. We never sign for you and never book a load you haven't agreed to.
02How do you find loads?
Load boards, direct broker contacts and repeat lanes, matched to the plan we make with you: equipment, home base, preferred lanes, minimum rate and home time.
03Will you book below my rate?
We negotiate to the floor you give us. If the only loads available are below it, we tell you and you decide, rather than booking something that loses money.
04What equipment do you dispatch?
11 types, treated the same: power only, dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, hotshot, car hauler, dump truck, hazmat tanker, oversize, and box trucks from 26 ft up. We don't dispatch cargo vans or anything smaller than a 26 ft box truck.
05How many loads a week will I get?
It depends on your lanes, equipment, rate floor and the market that week, so we don't promise a number. On the first call we look at your lanes together and tell you honestly what the market there looks like.
06Can I set my own home time?
Yes. Home time is part of the plan we book against. Tell us the days you need off, and we plan loads that get you home for them instead of finding you a reload far away.
07Do you broker freight?
No. We're a dispatch service acting for you, under your authority. The broker on a load is a separate company, and we take no money from brokers or shippers.
01Can you get me set up with power only programs?
We help you apply to programs and brokers that offer power only, check that your insurance certificate matches their interchange requirements, and plan loads around their yards. Approval is each program's decision.
02Who owns the trailers in power only?
The shipper, broker or carrier that runs the trailer pool. We don't own or lease trailers; we book loads where a trailer is provided and you supply the tractor.
03What insurance do I need for power only?
Usually trailer interchange or non-owned trailer coverage on top of your liability and cargo, at the limits each program sets. Your insurance agent confirms what your policy covers.
04Do you book drop and hook loads?
Yes, where they fit your lanes. Drop and hook usually means less time at the dock, which is a big part of why power only and drop trailer programs can make a week run smoother.
05Do you dispatch intermodal and drayage?
Yes, for carriers set up for it: port or rail ramp access credentials, the right equipment interchange agreements and a chassis plan. We help plan the moves and the paperwork.
01Do you handle carrier packets?
Yes. We fill out and send broker setup packets with your authority, insurance and W-9 so you're approved before loads come up, and keep them current when anything changes.
02Who handles detention and lumper paperwork?
We ask for detention terms before booking and approval when the clock starts. The driver gets times and receipts at the dock; we keep everything together with the load for invoicing or your factor.
03Do I need a drug and alcohol testing program?
If your trucks need a CDL and you run under your own authority, yes, including a random testing pool, which one-truck carriers join through a consortium. Non-CDL box trucks and hotshots aren't covered by the federal rules.
04What do I need to get started?
An active MC and DOT number, or an application in progress, a current insurance certificate, a W-9, and the details of your truck and trailer. We go through the rest on the first call.
05Can you dispatch a brand-new MC?
Yes. Some brokers won't work with very new authorities, and we know which will. The fee is 7% until your MC is 6 months old.
01Do I have to factor to use your dispatch?
No. Factoring is optional and separate. Keep your current factor, use none, or ask for a quote from our partner.
02Who is your factoring partner?
We refer carriers who ask to our factoring partner. We refer carriers to a factoring partner and may be paid for referrals. The referral doesn't change your rate, and you should compare their quote with others.
03How fast does factoring pay?
Many factors fund the same or next business day after clean paperwork arrives. Faster payout methods often cost extra. Complete paperwork on delivery day is what makes the fast end possible.
04Can you work with the factor I already use?
Yes. Tell us who it is and how it wants documents. We check brokers against your factor before booking and build each load's packet the way your factor asks for it.
05Does your fee come out of my factoring?
No. The factor pays you, never us. Our dispatch fee is invoiced to you separately.
